Architecture Reference for Cooperative & Intelligent Transportation (ARC-IT) Training

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) offers training material accompanying its Architecture Reference for Cooperative and Intelligent Transportation (ARC-IT), the Regional Architecture Development for Intelligent Transportation (RAD-IT) and the Systems Engineering Tool for Intelligent Transportation (SET-IT). RAD-IT supports development of regional and project ITS architectures using ARC-IT as a starting point. SET-IT integrates drawing and database tools with ARC-IT so that users can develop detailed ITS project architectures. ARC-IT and the accompanying tool sets help implementers develop architectures to effectively meet their needs and facilitate efficient, secure, and interoperable ITS deployments. The online training courses are available directly from the ARC-IT website, providing students with an understanding of how to navigate and use ARC-IT, use the software tools RAD-IT & SET-IT, and how to Use & Maintain a regional ITS architecture.

ITS Standards Training Modules
ITS Standards Training Modules are aimed at practitioners in state and local highway agencies and transit agencies who seek the skills needed to procure, implement, and operate ITS standards-based devices and equipment.

  • The 60-module training series is for practitioners in state and local highway agencies and transit agencies who seek the skills needed to procure, test, implement, and operate standards-based ITS systems and devices. Consultants, system designers, integrators, and testers will also find the training informative.
  • The 26-module transit training series focuses exclusively on standards used in transit applications. Similar to the 60-modules series, the transit modules give practitioners the skills to help them effectively procure and utilize standards used in transit systems and devices.
