Application Areas
Lighting Management
Description
This center-to-field application area covers the interface between a traffic management center and electrical and lighting devices located in the field. Together, the field devices (luminaires, electric circuits, etc.) and management stations (computing platforms) comprise the Electrical and Lighting Management System (ELMS).National ITS Architecture Interface
This application area includes the interface between the center subsystem that remotely controls roadside illumination and the electrical and lighting devices in the Roadway Subsystem (RS). The Traffic Management Subsystem (TMS) controls electrical and lighting devices by sending information for initialization, configuration, and control. This exchange of information includes schedules for light activation, electrical circuit configuration, dimming, control mode commands, requests for activation logs, and queries on equipment status and condition. The electrical and lighting device responds with the current operating status information (including fault information) when requested.Applicable Standards
In general, the following standards are applicable to Lighting Management deployments. To determine which specific standards are applicable for a deployment you will need to determine which architecture flows will be needed for the Lighting Management piece of your deployment.
